A Model of Cardiac Muscle Dynamics
نویسنده
چکیده
A mathematical model is presented describing the timeand length-dependent behavior of cardiac muscle. The model describes a wider variety of experimental data than do previously published models. It incorporates a modification of the Hill equation describing the force-velocity relation. Based on the sliding filament theory, the revised equation includes the effects of finite cross-bridge compliance proposed by A. F. Huxley. The essential simplicity of the Hill equation is retained; however, the model successfully predicts force development during both isometric and isotonic contractions, observed deactivation of the contractile element during isotonic shortening, and the apparent dependence of series elastic stiffness on time after stimulation during quick-release and quick-stretch experiments.

Protective Effect of Aerobic Training along with Resveratrol on Mitochondrial Dynamics of Cardiac Myocytes in Animal Model of Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Background & objectives: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is associated with mitochondrial dysfunction. The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of aerobic training along with resveratrol on cardiac expression of OPA1 and DRP1 in NAFLD male rats. Methods: In this experimental study, forty eight male Wistar rats were classified into two groups: NAFLD (n=40) and Control-N...
متن کاملEffect of endotoxemia on heart rate dynamics in rat isolated perfused hearts
Introduction: Beat-to-beat variation in heart rate shows a complex dynamics, and this complexity is changed during systemic inflammatory response syndrome (e.g. sepsis). It is not known whether or not cardiac pacemaker dynamical rhythm is affected by sepsis. The aim of this study was to investigate heart rate dynamics of isolated heart as well as expression of pacemaker channels (HCN) in a r...
متن کاملThe effect of resistance training on the expression of cardiac muscle growth regulator messenger genes in obese male rats
Background: Obesity is associated with cardiovascular disease, followed by pathological cardiac hypertrophy. However, physical activity (resistance training) plays a role in modulating some of the intracellular messenger pathways associated with the regulation of pathologic hypertrophy. The aim of this study was to investigate The effect of resistance training on the expression of cardiac muscl...
متن کاملThe effect of resistance exercise on oxidative stress in cardiac and skeletal muscle tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats
Abstract Background and Objective: It has been shown that oxidative stress increases in diabetes and it has an important role in its development and subsequent complications. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of acute resistance exercise on oxidative stress in skeletal muscle and cardiac tissues of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Materials and Methods: Twenty male ...
متن کاملMeshless Solutions to PDE Model for Calcium Signaling in Ventricular Myocytes
Calcium dynamics plays a central role in studying the excitation-contraction (EC) coupling process which allows cardiac muscle cells to pump blood through the heart and around the body. For many reasons such as patient safety, mathematical models of calcium dynamics are becoming an increasingly powerful tool in the study of the heart and cardiomyopathy. Computational simulations can be used to ...
